Phipps is seeking a full-time Collections Manager to upgrade and maintain all aspects of the Conservatory’s collections program, developing our signature plant collections to achieve the professional standards necessary to receive and retain local and national recognition. The Collections Manager will coordinate plant acquisitions, advise on the care of permanent collections, oversee plant recordkeeping, and supervise Display Horticulturists who assist in maintaining permanent collections throughout the Conservatory. Other responsibilities include leading tours, writing articles, and responding to general inquiries from the public and the press, actively representing Phipps on a local and national level at horticultural-related events.

The qualified candidate must have a Master’s degree in botany, plant science, horticulture or related field and two years’ conservatory experience. Knowledge of a vast plant palette, demonstrated expertise in general horticulture and the ability to research the needs of individual crops and suggest suitable plants to add to displays is required. The qualified candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and a desire to interact with the general public. Evening and weekend work may be required.
