Homegrown is a Phipps program dedicated to increasing community access to fresh produce, promoting better food choices, and improving the overall health of families and children. We fulfill our goals by installing raised bed vegetable gardens at households in underserved neighborhoods, and by providing mentorship and resources. The Homegrown Installation Specialist Interns work under the Garden Installation Coordinator to assist with all aspects of the raised bed installation program: preparing supplies, assembling and setting up beds, removing sod, unloading and moving soil, and clean-up. The interns will also help to implement neighborhood beautification work days and assist with other education and outreach program duties as needed. The interns will work in Homewood, Larimer, East Hills and Lincoln-Lemington-Belmar frequently, completing physical installation and projects.
Candidates must have previous experience with hands-on landscaping or vegetable gardening, as well as familiarity and proficiency with the use of common landscaping tools. This paid internship is 32 hours per week, from May-August 2020.
