There's always something new to see and do at Phipps! This weekly blog post provides a run-down of the latest happenings so you can plan your visit. Events listed below require no advance registration unless noted otherwise. 

Open Daily:

  • Summer Flower Show: The Hidden Life of Trolls
    Featuring one-of-a-kind displays of trolls inspired by the mythological creatures found in folklore and pop culture, this immersive, interactive exhibit is unlike anything Phipps has displayed before.
  • Celebrating John Bauer, Painter of Trolls
    In association with Jönköpings Läns Museum, Phipps presents selected works of John Bauer, Swedish painter and illustrator who focused on landscapes and mythology.
  • Tropical Forest Cuba 
    Experience the natural beauty and culture of Cuba, one of the most biodiverse Caribbean island nations on Earth, in our immersive Tropical Forest exhibit.
  • Planets Earth Virtual Exhibit
    A dynamic exhibit at the Center for Sustainable Landscapes (and now online) addresses the pressing environmental issues of our time and proposes a new way of thinking about how to solve them.

Wed., July 21:

  • The Hidden Life of Trolls Series | 10 – 10:45 a.m.
    Surprises await upon every turn in Phipps’ new Summer Flower Show: The Hidden Life of Trolls! In a storybook adventure, let’s jump, hop and skip with Fen and Ivy, the friendly troll mascots of the show who have a lot of energy. Enjoy a 45-minute engaging movement adventure filled with exercise, surprises and magical friends.
  • Virtual Story Time | 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
    Join us for stories, sing-alongs and fun activities you can do from home each Wednesday!
  • Phipps Kids Plant Club | 1 – 4 p.m.
    Let Phipps cultivate your child’s green thumb with an exciting new vegetation education program, Phipps Kids Plant Club! Pick up a plant kit full of 10 small garden-ready and flowering plants from Phipps, and then tune in for a virtual class so your budding botanist can learn how to make each plant thrive. Plant kits and classes are offered in July and August and can be picked up on Phipps Conservatory’s front lawn on the dates listed below. A limited number of plant kits are sold for each session, so be sure to register today! Plant kits are not available for shipping.
  • SciTALK Series | 4 – 5 p.m.
    There are so many possibilities in the world of science! Each week in this series, teens will meet two scientists from different fields to talk about research, career paths, schools and what life is like as a scientist.
