Summer is finally here! Schools have finally let out and summer vacation is in full swing. But with all the free time summer brings you might be wondering how to keep you and your family busy and active! Here are 5 fun ideas to keep your family busy all summer long!

1. Have a pool day!

Summertime in Pittsburgh means longer, hotter days. Cool down by having a pool day! Head to your local pool and enjoy the cool water and stay active! Swimming is fun as well as a great heart and lung strengthening exercise!

2. Head out to KidsPlay in Market Square!

Bring the family out to Market Square for KidsPlay every Tuesday and Saturday! Enjoy River views and tons of activities from vendors all over Pittsburgh. Play games of giant chess or get bendy with free yoga classes!

3. Get outside with Let’s Move Pittsburgh!

Join Us for LMP’s very own Walk and Talk summer series every Tuesday starting July 9th! Enjoy a yummy and nutritious morning snack before getting outside and exploring Schenley Park while learning something new! Families will also have the opportunity to ask health and wellness questions to a variety of children health specialists. Register for a Walk and Talk here

4. Own the city with OpenstreetPGH!

Mark your calendars for Sunday June 30th! Streets from downtown Lawernceville and the Strip District will be closed so you can enjoy exploring the streets of Pittsburgh walking or on your bike! You’ll also be able to enjoy fitness workshops and local art!

5. Be creative in the kitchen!

After a long and active day outside cool down with yummy and nutritious drink! Get your kids involved in the kitchen and see what you come up with! Or check out some of our favorite summertime drink recipes.
