On Fri., May 1 and Sat., May 2, peruse our curated collections of plants, books and locally made crafts that are perfect for any green enthusiast at Phipps Garden Center in Mellon Park! Choose from a selection of native plants, herbs and house plants, speak with Phipps Master Gardeners, explore handmade items from local vendors and find inspiration in a new gardening book. Your support of this sale benefits the Phipps Adult Education program to continue to provide unique nature themed courses, connect local experts to the community and so much more.
Featured items include:
- Beneficial native perennials with a focus on plants for hillsides and pollinators such as great blue lobelia, swamp milkweed, spotted beebalm, wild columbine, foam flower and more.
- Native and edible shrubs and trees from Wild Indigo Trees Nursery
- Delicious culinary herbs like oregano, sage, thyme, basil, parsely and rosemary.
- Beautiful and low-maintenance houseplants like pothos, snake plants and succulents.
- Educational books with helpful tips and tricks on gardening for native plants, plant identification, houseplants and more.
- Handmade jewelry and crafts from local artisans to celebrate our connection to nature.
Plus, after visiting the Phipps Garden Center on Sat., May 2, the Pittsburgh Center for Arts and Media Spring Artists Market will be happening on the same day from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., so plan to visit both to get your springtime items!
