Backyard Seed Yoga

By Sarah Cullo, LMP Coordinator

For part 2 of seed week we have a seed inspired yoga flow! If you missed part 1 check out Miss. Jennifer's post about seed starting!

1. Start in Child’s pose, this will be our seed pose, fingers and palms rooted into the ground. Imagine you are a small seed rooting into the earth.

2. Sit up onto knees, here we will practice our breathing. Breathe in for four seconds and breathe out for six. Try doing this three times. Think about what a seedling needs to grow into a strong healthy plant.

3. Push up into downward dog and root your hands into the ground and stretch out your back.

4. Walk your feet to your hands and roll all the way up.

5. Take three deep breaths.

6. Root one leg into the ground and bring the opposite leg to your knee. Keep yours in front of your chest and take a deep breath in through your nose.

7. Bring your arms up pointed to the sky.

8. Now open up your arms like the branches of a tree.

9. Put your foot back onto the ground with your arms straight up. Start to fold over slowly. Imagine the wind blowing the seeds of the tree down to the ground.

10. Gently return to our seed pose (child’s pose) take a deep breath and repeat this sequence on the other side.
