Last Week in Science Education Programming

By Erica Jackson, Intern, Phipps Science Education and Research

Last Week in Science Education Programming is our weekly seasonal segment featuring education programming. This is the place for camp parents to find pictures of their campers in action and see all the fun things we did throughout the week. It’s also a great place for educators to pick up craft, story and lesson ideas for their own early childhood programs!

We met lots of new friends in the Tropical Forest last week, and many of them had several pairs of legs! For Our Bug Friends, the third Little Sprouts camp of the season, we learned about the different critters that live in our backyards. Everyone got the chance to see ladybugs, millipedes, roly-polys and a praying mantis up-close. We also made ant art with our fingerprints and went on an ant parade through the conservatory. The fun will continue next month, when Little Sprouts get the chance to explore the fascinating world of deserts in Our Desert Adventure!

If you would like to learn more about Phipps’ seasonal camps, or would like to register your little one for an upcoming program, please visit our website or call 412-441-4442, ext.3925 for more information!
