Often garden designers share beautiful images of gardens and landscapes at the end of the design process, when they are “grown up” and full. Tom de Witte will take us behind the scenes for a look at several of his own garden designs as well as those he has worked on with internationally celebrated landscape designer, Piet Oudolf. See the process from design and installation to what it takes to maintain naturalistic gardens. Includes time for questions.

Tom de Witte

Landscape Designer

Tom de Witte designs outdoor spaces, small and large. Layering and naturally inspired planting play a major role in his work. Tom’s design firm creates naturally inspired gardens, landscapes, parks and public spaces. Layering throughout the seasons and specific plant knowledge in this area are their main features. The growth cycle of the plants provides an ever-surprising outdoor space in gardens of all sizes.

Tom studied for four years at the Horticulture College in Boskoop (Netherlands) and graduated in 2000 from the Academy in Ghent (Belgium).  Tom specializes in plantings of perennials and grasses. He regularly works together with the renowned Dutch garden designer Piet Oudolf. Tom is inspired by both the designing and planting of his landscapes, at home in the Netherlands and abroad. This could be the rainforests in Tasmania, prairies in North America or verges along the polder roads in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen.
