Eat, drink and place your bids on sought-after trees, shrubs and tropicals.
A Pittsburgh tradition for more than three decades, the Great Plant Auction is a lively, fun affair for a good cause. On Fri., May 4, Phipps Garden Center in Mellon Park will transform into an auction house where green thumbs can place their bids for sought-after and newly introduced trees, shrubs and tropical plants, as well as unique home and garden accessories. The 34th annual sale is supported by local garden centers, businesses, specialty mail-order nurseries, and individual donors. Proceeds benefit our education programs.
The silent auction portion of the sale begins at 6 p.m. and the live auction begins at 7:30 p.m. Admission costs $30 for Phipps members and $35 for nonmembers, and includes wine and hors d'oeuvres. Register online or call 412/441-4442, ext. 3925.
