Let’s Move Pittsburgh Summer Fun Days

Join Let's Move Pittsburgh for fun summer activities throughout the week at Phipps, including themed games, crafts, fitness fun, stories, snacks and more, all free with admission.

Let’s Move Pittsburgh, a healthy lifestyles program of Phipps, is committed to leading children toward a healthier future — and we're here to help your family lead the way at 2019 Summer Fun Days! Let's Move Pittsburgh presents five days of action-filled activities that will have the whole family moving, discovering and exploring, all while having tons of fun! Activities are included with Phipps admission and require no advance registration.

Note: Story Time and Healthy Snack and Story sessions are limited as noted below to due to space; participating families need to check in at the admission desk in the Welcome Center where they will be given a special admission pass. Passes will be given on a first-come, first-served basis and are required to attend these sessions.

Family fitness classes will be relocated indoors in the event of rain.

Mon., June 24:

  • Healthy Snack and Story: Planting the Seed
    Botany Hall Kitchen  |  10 – 10:30 a.m.  |  Limited to 20 participants
    Learn how to make chia seed energy bites and hear the story Little Seeds by Charles Ghigna. 
  • Family Activities with Kidsburgh
    Tropical Fruit and Spice Room  |  10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
    Meet our friends from the Kidsburgh website and enjoy craft activities including recycled paper flowers, origami monster bookmarks, and kid-friendly circuitry kits.
  • UPMC Health Plan Mobile Screening
    Discovery Garden  10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
    Drop in to measure your height and weight and get free blood pressure and bone density screenings from UPMC Health Plan.
  • Discovery Program: Make a Craft
    10:30 a.m. – noon  |  Discovery Garden
    Children are invited to engage in nature-themed arts-and-crafts projects.
  • Activity Stations: Seeds of Change
    Tropical Forest Conservatory  |  10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
    Play a matching game to identify seeds and their fruits and pot your very own radish plant.
  • Family Fitness: Yoga
    Front Lawn  |  1:30 – 2:30 p.m.
    Enjoy a free, family-friendly yoga class with YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh on our historic front lawn. Bring your own water, yoga mat or towel, and natural insect repellent!

    Learn a healthy recipe and hear the story Icy Watermelon / Sandía fría by Mary Sue Galindo.
  • Family Activities with Kidsburgh
    Tropical Fruit and Spice Room  |  10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
    Meet our friends from the Kidsburgh website and enjoy craft activities including recycled paper flowers, origami monster bookmarks, and kid-friendly circuitry kits.
  • UPMC Health Plan Mobile Screening
    Discovery Garden  10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
    Drop in to measure your height and weight and get free blood pressure and bone density screenings from UPMC Health Plan.
  • Activity Stations: Wonderful Water
    Tropical Forest Conservatory  |  10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
    Try fruit-infused water flavors and make a painting with ice.
  • Family Fitness: Hip Hop

    Get the whole family pumped up with a free, family-friendly hip hop aerobics class with YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh on our historic front lawn. Bring your own water and natural insect repellent!
