On Thurs., April 2 from 5:30 – 8 p.m., celebrate the beginning of spring with an evening all about the Eastern redbud and more small trees that are great for every yard!

The evening will open at 5:30 p.m. with a social hour during which guests can tour the Conservatory and meet Phipps staff members and other local partners. At 6:30 p.m., Penn State Extension Educator, Sandy Feather, will lead the talk with a focus on small trees that provide more than one season of interest in the garden. Plus, she will cover native and non-native (but not invasive!) species with a special emphasis on those that provide benefits for wildlife and those that resist common insect and disease problems.

More Event Features:

  • Free 6”-12” bareroot redbud sapling for the first 100 attendees
  • Western Pennsylvania Conservancy table sharing resources and expertise
  • Bar with drinks for purchase (credit card only) from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
  • Complimentary snacks
  • Spring Flower Show: True Colors open to explore

Nothing says spring like seeing the bright pink blooms of redbuds in early April, and we hope you'll join us to kick off the season with this Nature Talk!
