Swap seeds, acquire tips and get ready for a great season of gardening.
Gardening season is on its way, and Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, Grow Pittsburgh and Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh are here to get you started on the right foot. Join us to exchange seeds, perennial plants and seedlings. acquire tips and more at this free and fun public event at Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh in Oakland, just down the street from Phipps.
Seeds that have been donated by generous local farmers, gardeners and seed companies will be available for free — however, we encourage everyone to bring your own commercial or saved seeds for swapping (untreated, non-GMO seeds, please!). Any guest bringing seeds will be eligible to enter a raffle of fun gifts from Phipps, Grow Pittsburgh and Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. Other event features include:
- hands-on activities for children and teens
- workshops on seed starting at noon and seed saving at 1 p.m.
- gardening experts available to answer questions throughout the event
- and more!
