By Emily Johns, High School Program Coordinator

Are you interested in sustainability and learning about environmental issues? Have you been considering a green career and are not sure where to start or how to narrow it down? Do you want to learn how to grow, harvest and cook your own food? Look no further! Phipps Conservatory’s paid High School Internship is the opportunity for you!

Applications for the 2020 High School Summer Internship are now being accepted! We are looking for highly motivated high school students with an interest in environmental issues, horticulture, or green careers to serve as summer interns in our six-week, paid internship program which will run Mon. – Thurs. from June 18 – July 30. All applicants must be at least 16 years of age by Thurs., June 18 and qualify for free or reduced-cost lunch.

Our internship provides hands-on experience working with our science education and horticulture staff along with classes, service projects and field trips. Students are exposed to a wide range of “green” concepts including gardening, healthy eating, environmental justice, sustainability, photography and green careers.

More information about the internship, its qualifications and how to apply can be found on our High School Internship webpage.  If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact High School Program Coordinator, Emily Johns at ejohns@phipps.conservatory.org or 412/622-6915, ext. 6936.
