Phipps Conservatory and Penn State Extension to Host In-Person Summer Short Course
In-Person Event on Designing a Garden for Beauty and Ecology
Pittsburgh, PA – On Tues., July 29, Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens and Penn State Extension invite gardening enthusiasts to explore ways to enhance a garden at this year’s annual Summer Short Course. With a robust line-up of local experts, attendees will learn about topics like types of garden design, native bees, beneficial plants and so much more.
Summer Short Course sessions will include the following:
- Gardens to the Max | Teresa Woodard
- Native Bees: Overlooked and Important | Stephanie Szakal
- Noteworthy Western PA Gardens and How to Get There | Juliette Olshock
- Building a Border Backwards | Julie Witmer
- Branching Out: The Ecological and Aesthetic Benefits of Woody Plants | Nancy Knauss
Summer Short Course, presented by Phipps and Penn State Extension, will be held in-person on Tues., July 29 from 8:45 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Registration costs $95 on or before Mon., June 30. After June 30, the cost is $105. This event will be held in the Special Events Hall at Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. This conference counts for Master Gardener Continuing Education credit, and elective hours for Phipps certificate programs: Sustainable Horticulture and Landscape and Garden Design.
