Sun., May 18 admission tickets are open now and guests are welcome to plan their arrivals at any time before or during event hours. This event is included in regular Conservatory admission. Members and children under the age of 2 are free.
To celebrate International Museum Day, learn how to craft your very own miniature museum exhibit all about insects! Explore what goes into creating an educational exhibit for a museum or a living museum like a zoo or garden, then create your own exhibit poster to test your design skills!
Follow along each month as Dr. Maria Wheeler-Dubas will be stationed in the Conservatory on select Saturdays from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. to highlight the biology and science behind each of our distinctive seasons. View our upcoming Science Table Talk topics below!

Meet Our Scientist: Dr. Maria Wheeler-Dubas
Dr. Maria Wheeler-Dubas is the science education outreach manager at Phipps. Her undergraduate degree and her doctorate are both in biology, and she has taught at both the college level and within the classrooms of zoos and museums. At Phipps, Maria coordinates science communication workshops, oversees the Botany in Action fellowship program, writes for Phipps’ #bioPGH blog and and organizes multiple regular educational events. Overall, she loves nothing more than sharing the wonders of nature with children and families.
