Pittsburgh, PA – Beginning Sat., Oct. 10, Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens invites guests to follow Alice and her Wonderland friends into a new season with Fall Flower Show: Alice’ Adventures in Autumn. The show transforms Phipps’ whimsical interpretation of Lewis Carroll’s classic story for fall, combining beloved characters and imaginative displays with stunning chrysanthemums — and a few spooky surprises. Guests will encounter iconic scenes from the book surrounded by expertly grown chrysanthemums in an extraordinary variety of shapes, colors and sizes.
Exhibit Features:
- Gaze upon the Cheshire Cat’s tree in Palm Court, now covered in cobwebs and bursting with vibrant yellow cascading mums
- Admire ten captivating chrysanthemum obelisks surrounding the Sunken Garden
- See the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party transformed into a festive fall feast in the East Room clever crows fly overhead
- Enjoy marvelous mums in classic shades of orange, bronze and gold in the Broderie Room
- View three larger-than-life ladybug chrysanthemum topiaries throughout the Serpentine Room
Plus, opening the same day, Garden Railroad: Dragonflies, Fairies and Gnomes will feature a fantastic forest of gnome and fairy realms, with dragonflies hovering above! Guests can watch these miniature fantasy characters hard at work in their villages while trains pass through the lush greenery. Full-size trees and playful figures of snails, beetles, birds, squirrels and other woodland creatures will complete the enchanted experience. Prepare to be fascinated!
