Phipps Conservatory Achieves WELL Health-Safety Rating
Phipps Recognized for Commitment to Supporting Health and Well-Being of Staff and Visitors
Pittsburgh, PA – Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is excited to announce its achievement of the WELL Health-Safety Rating through the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI). This rating was created to encourage organizations of all sizes to implement steps that promote the health of their staff, guests and stakeholders. Phipps first secured the rating campus-wide in 2021, and now renews its commitment as part of a community of institutions that are putting health and safety at the forefront in the post-COVID environment of the world.
The WELL Health-Safety Rating was designed to guide the efforts of businesses regarding critical health and safety issues. A third-party review process is used to measure leadership and commitment to the long-term well-being of people that frequent the facility. This achievement has created a network of organizations that are working toward transforming the future of how buildings, communities and organizations support health. In addition to the campus-wide rating, Phipps is also the recipient of WELL Building Platinum certifications for its Exhibit Staging Center and Center for Sustainable Landscapes, the latter of which was the world’s first building to achieve the certification.
“Human and environmental health is at the forefront of everything we do on our campus and beyond,” said Phipps President and CEO Richard Piacentini. “This achievement validates our efforts, and we are thrilled to be recognized as a healthy place for people to visit and hope to inspire other institutions to take similar action. We thank WELL for the recognition and for their efforts to ensure that buildings are healthier and safer worldwide.”
To achieve this rating, Phipps met the requirements in categories such as cleaning and sanitization procedure, health service resources, air and water quality management, and more.
