Phipps’ Jazz in the Garden Returns with Lineup of Pittsburgh Talents
Guests are Invited to Enjoy Live Music Against the Beauty of the Outdoor Garden

Pittsburgh, PA – This summer, Phipps is offering Jazz in the Garden performances from July through September in our Outdoor Garden! Enjoy nights of smooth music set against a gorgeous botanical backdrop with some of Pittsburgh's most talented Jazz ensembles. Roger Humphries, Tony Campbell and Hugo Cruz and the Caminos will bring a wide range of entertaining jazz sets to our beautiful outdoor garden all summer long. Plus, guests will have the option to pre-purchase delicious boxed snacks to enjoy during the performance and have access to a cashless (credit card only) bar.

Roger Humphries | Thurs., July 23
Music critics rate Humphries as one of the most exciting percussionists in the music industry for over 50 years. He has provided dozens of rhythmic beats for icons like Ray Charles, Stanley Turrentine, Dr. Billy Taylor, Dizzie Gillespie, George Benson and many more. Phipps is honored to have Roger Humphries and the R.H. Factor Band in our lush Outdoor Garden.

Tony Campbell | Thurs., Aug. 27
Tony Campbell's musical journey began in the Hill District in 1973 when he joined the The Deltones at the age of 13.  Campbell attended Berklee College of Music, and returned to Pittsburgh in 1982 to study at The University of Pittsburgh under Dr. Nathan Davis. He recorded and toured with Roy Ayers, and in the same year joined Roger Humphries and RH Factor. Currently, Tony is performing, recording, producing, teaching and holding Jazz Jam sessions that feature some of the best young up and coming talent in the Pittsburgh region. His mission is to keep the great American music of jazz going on forever for all to enjoy and experience as he does. His latest recording “Blues, Ballads and Beyond” was produced in 2022 and currently available on all streaming platforms and at Dorsey Records.

Hugo Cruz and the Caminos | Thurs., Sept. 18
Hugo Alexander Cruz Machado is a Cuban-born, award-winning, drummer and composer who has performed internationally, including South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Mexico, Chile, Venezuela, and the United States. Hugo is the leader of the jazz fusion music group Caminos, who have made appearances at Fábrica de Artes in Havana, Cuba, Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC, Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival 2019, Carnegie Museum of Art, City of Asylum, Thunderbird Cafe and Music Hall, Westylvania Jazz and Blues Festival, and the Monroeville Jazz Festival, among many others.
