Last Week in Science Education Programming

By Erica Jackson, Intern, Phipps Science Education and Research

Last Week in Science Education Programming is our weekly seasonal segment featuring education programming. This is the place for camp parents to find pictures of their campers in action and see all the fun things we did throughout the week. It’s also a great place for educators to pick up craft, story and lesson ideas for their own early childhood programs!

Last week, our four and five year-old campers exercised their bodies and minds for our second Celebrate! Series camp of the year. We explored fun ways to get active using simple, recycled materials in our homes such as: building an obstacle course, walking like different animals and going on a scavenger hunt. Chef John also gave us a healthy cooking demonstration in the café and let the campers try Phipps’ special hummus with carrots and celery. At the end of the day, everyone left with their very own basil plant so they can add some healthy seasoning to their meals at home!

If you would like to learn more about Phipps’ seasonal camps, or would like to register your little one for an upcoming program, please visit our website or call 412-441-4442, ext.3925 for more information!
