Phipps Conservatory Presents the 2019-2020 Fairchild Challenge!

By Emily Johns, High School Program Coordinator

Phipps Conservatory invites area high schools and middle schools to take part in The Fairchild Challenge, a standards-based, environmental education outreach program and competition that gives students an opportunity to shine. Developed by the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Miami, Fl., and adopted by Phipps as a satellite partner in 2008, The Fairchild Challenge offers a menu of interdisciplinary challenges for grades 6 – 8 and grades 9 – 12, attracting students of diverse interests, abilities, talents and backgrounds. The Challenge empowers young people to engage in civic life and encourages them to become energetic and knowledgeable members of their communities.

Participation in the Fairchild Challenge at Phipps is absolutely free and top-scoring schools win monetary prizes for their environmental education programming!  To register and get started on this year's exciting challenges, please visit the Fairchild Challenge webpage

If you have questions, you may contact Emily Johns, High School Program Coordinator at ejohns@phipps.conservatory.org or 412-622-6915 ext. 6936.

This program is made possible by the generous support of the Grable Foundation and the Pennsylvania Education Improvement Tax Credit Program.
