Join us for a respite from the cold and explore this warm oasis featuring a vast variety of orchids and classically trained bonsai. - Tropical Delight: The Art of Deborah Sudran
When you visit our Orchid and Tropical Bonsai Show, enjoy the work of Deborah Sudran, a gifted painter who communicated her emotional response to nature with compelling color and powerful imagery. - Garden Railroad: Movie Magic
Garden Railroad: Movie Magic will allow guests to explore a bustling movie lot home to genres like fantasy, western, science fiction, horror and action with whimsical and interactive aspects! With an abundance of fascinating features surrounded by a beautiful plant palette, our Garden Railroad is sure to bring Hollywood magic to the glasshouse. - Planets Earth Virtual Exhibit
A dynamic exhibit at the Center for Sustainable Landscapes (and now online) addresses the pressing environmental issues of our time and proposes a new way of thinking about how to solve them.
Mon., Feb. 3:
- Yoga for Gardeners: Flowing through Change | 11 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
The series is designed to progressively build strength, mobility, and balance with each class structured to be accessible to all levels. This month focuses on adaptability, reflecting how we can move gracefully through the transitions in our bodies and lives. Just as nature begins to subtly awaken beneath the surface, we too can embrace change with ease, learning to flow with life's transitions rather than resist them. This will be a time to foster fluidity, allowing us to move through the shifts that arise with grace and acceptance - trusting in the process of growth. and focusing on the foundational principles while layering in new elements of challenge.
Tues., Feb. 4:
- Self-Care Cooking Series: White Bean Caponata with Polenta | 6 – 7:30 p.m.
Cooking can feel stressful, but in this virtual class series, we take a different approach. Through Zoom, you’ll join us from the comfort of your own kitchen as we transform food preparation into a sanctuary from the stresses of the day. We’ll focus on being present and mindful while creating healthy dishes that will nourish both body and mind. Login at the start of class time and cook along with Chef Emily from home or sit back and watch and try the recipe another time! This series is plant based, vegan friendly and gluten free.
Wed., Feb. 5:
- In-Person Story Time | 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Kids will love visiting Phipps to listen to our storyteller weave tales about gardens, fruits, vegetables, animals and other fun topics. Attend weekly sessions with a special child in your life. - Game Day Appetizers | 6 – 8 p.m.
Get ready to tackle game day in the kitchen with some fresh new appetizers that will leave your guests cheering for more! In this hands-on class we’ll make Black and Gold pretzel bites with cheese sauce, Pittsburgh Puppy Chow, savory sliders and saucy cauliflower ‘wings’ and for dessert, fudgy brownies with gold frosting! This class is vegetarian friendly.
