Phipps Conservatory Announces Spring Flower Show: True Colors
Enjoy a Burst of Color and Fragrance at Phipps’ Delightful New Show Opening Sat., March 28
Pittsburgh, PA – Opening Sat., March 28, Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is welcoming a bright burst of color and fragrance in this year’s Spring Flower Show: True Colors. This show is sure to inspire with a variety of blooms and sensory experiences. Among the tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, liliies and other beautiful blooms are whimsical props and effects designed to enhance your seasonal experience, from oversized watering cans to chirping birds, flying kites and more.
The Spring Flower Show is the culmination of a year and a half of planning, designing, growing and fabricating. "Bulbs such as tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths are sourced from Holland in the summer prior, while many of the annual crops start growing in our production greenhouses in December. We start bringing in our deciduous stock such as cherries and azaleas about a month in advance of the show to force them into bloom. Props such as the umbrella canopy, oversized flowers and watering cans are in fabrication in our shop starting in December. It’s a major production!” said Associate Director of Exhibits Jordyn Melino.
