Phipps Conservatory Presents 83nd Annual May Market Event
Bustling outdoor marketplace, plus debut of highly-anticipated Van Gogh in Bloom exhibition, provide the perfect Mother's Day weekend celebration

Pittsburgh, PA — On Fri., May 10 and Sat., May 11, Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens will host its 83rd annual May Market, transforming Phipps’ front lawn into a plentiful marketplace of ultra-green proportions on Mother's Day weekend. Experience this Pittsburgh tradition filled with beautiful botanical treasures, open 9:30 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Fri., May 10 and 9:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Sat., May 11. 

 
This year’s May Market includes a variety of organic herbs and vegetable seedlings, tropical plants, succulents, native and rain garden plants and many more inspiring seasonal favorites sure to delight any green thumb. Plus, choose from a wide array of one-of-a-kind home and garden items from over 70 area vendors including gardening accessories and lawn décor, as well as handmade jewelry, botanical art and natural body care products. 

Phipps’ horticulturists and Master Gardeners will also be on hand to share helpful gardening tips and advice at the popular annual event.

Additionally, Sat., May 11 marks the opening of Phipps’ Summer Flower Show: Van Gogh in Bloom, providing a spectacular weekend outing at Phipps.  The artistry of Vincent van Gogh comes to life in Van Gogh in Bloom, with masterful botanical renderings of the artist’s iconic works in vibrant detail including “Starry Night,” “Sunflowers,” and “Wheat Field with Cypresses.”  Wander through recreations of Van Gogh’s legendary paintings brought to three-dimensional life through vibrant blooms, majestic trees and hand-crafted props in this immersive new show that uniquely combines art and nature.
