Designed in 1991 by Hoichi Kurisu, the Japanese Courtyard Garden combines two important art forms: the Japanese garden (a manmade landscape created to look natural) and bonsai (miniature representations of trees and landscapes). The two forms, rarely if ever displayed together in Japan, are contrasted and harmonized in this unique exhibit.
