There's always something new to see and do at Phipps! This weekly blog post provides a run-down of the latest happenings so you can plan your visit. Events listed below require no advance registration unless noted otherwise. 

Open Daily: 

  • COMING SOON: Orchid and Tropical Bonsai Show: Into The Mist  
    This year's all-new engaging displays feature outstanding orchids and brilliant bonsai placed amid an evocative combination of water, mist and special lighting that provide a whole new way to enjoy fascinating specimens.
  • COMING SOON: Festive Nights of Winter Lights 
    To celebrate the success of Holiday Magic!, we’re letting our Winter Light Garden shine for a few more nights of festive wonder. Friday and Saturday evenings on Jan. 12, 13, 19, 20, 26 and 27 from 5 – 10 p.m., drop in for a serene stroll among the luminous orbs, trees, towers and fountains of light in our Outdoor and Children’s Discovery Gardens.
  • Garden Railroad: Pennsylvania Through the Four Seasons
    Garden Railroad: Pennsylvania Through the Four Seasons will divide our miniature world of trains, buildings and landscapes into showcases of the four seasons as experienced in distinctive PA fashion, with a beach, a county fair and a bike trail among many other whimsical and interactive features. 
  • COMING SOON: Color, Texture, Shape: The Art of Deborah Sudran
    A gifted painter fascinated with plants and nature, Deborah Sudran sought to communicate her emotional response to nature with compelling color and powerful imagery, including orchids, bromeliads and other species that complement the displays you'll see in the Conservatory.
  • Tropical Forest Hawai‘i: Aloha ‘Aina
    Tropical Forest Hawai‘i: Aloha ‘Aina invites guests to take an exciting, immersive journey through the rich history, nature and culture of the Hawaiian archipelago. 
  • Planets Earth Virtual Exhibit
    A dynamic exhibit at the Center for Sustainable Landscapes (and now online) addresses the pressing environmental issues of our time and proposes a new way of thinking about how to solve them.

Mon., Jan. 8: 

  • Sensory Friendly Hour | 5:30 p.m. 
    Individuals with sensory concerns and their families are welcome to join our team for a self-guided tour of the conservatory, including engaging sensory-friendly Discovery Station activities along the way.

Wed., Jan. 10: 

  • In-Person Story Time | 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
    Kids will love visiting Phipps to listen to our storyteller weave tales about gardens, fruits, vegetables, animals and other fun topics. Attend weekly sessions with a special child in your life.

Sat., Jan. 13:

  • History of Botanical Art | 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. 
    Explore the history of botanical art from its earliest beginnings in herbals through present-day contemporary works.
